Not only are bookcases obviously an essential way to organize your books, but they can also enhance your room’s overall visual appeal. However, many people don’t want or need a massive bookcase since they’re costly, don’t have enough books to fill it, or don’t even have room.

Thus, we formulated a list of the 15 best and highest rated bookshelves for small spaces. The term “small spaces” is kind of vague. Therefore, we gathered a plethora of different sizes. Regardless of your budget, size preference, style of choice, or amount of tiers you need; you’ll surely find what you’re looking for below!

1. Giantex 7-Tier

First up, the Giantex 7-Tier is an excellent bookshelf that’s perfect for small spaces. Considering its vertical form, it’s able to hold many books and accessories without taking up too much room. Many people keep it in a corner. But aside from that, it provides a robust build quality, as well. You can get it in either black or white.

Users Say: “This case does exactly what I wanted it to. Looks clean, minimal, hardly takes up any space, and gives a great contrast to succulent pots and books. While the shelves are strong enough to hold multiple books and plant holders I have not put heavy books or plants at the top. Great investment for the look it provides in my opinion.”

2. Hodedah

Amazingly, the Hodedah had a significant price cut of nearly 35% off the original amount, although we’re unsure if this discount is permanent or temporary, we believe it’s either way, an incredible bang for the buck. The vertical bookshelf nicely fits in compact areas while offering 5 shelves for books and accessories. Additionally, you can get it in six different color options, as well!

Users Say: “Attractive, strong bookcase! Quite easy to put together. Perfect for a small space but holds a lot of books!”

3. Winsome Juliet

Rather than a vertical bookcase, the Winsome Juliet is a wonderful option if you want something more compact. You’ll enjoy how the books lie down at a slant so you can see the covers.

4. Furinno Basic

For good reasons, the Furinno Basic is one of the most famous compact bookshelves on the market. Better yet, it’s currently on a 55% price deduction. Not only does it come in ten different color options, but it takes up very little space at 9.25 x 21.75 x 39.5.

Users Say: “I have limited space and I needed something where I can put bottle warmer wipe warmer, diapers, baby stuff, etc for my baby that is to arrive soon lol matched pretty close to my cherry oak furniture lol.”

5. Tribesigns

Here is one of the higher-quality but compact bookshelves on the list. The Tribesigns is an impressive choice for various reasons. It has an outstanding quality of construction, an elegant appearance, a relatively compact size of 3.6 x 11.8 x 61.8, 4-tiers, and high-reviews amongst users. However, assembly takes roughly 35 minutes.

Users Say: “This shelf arrived one day earlier than expected so great shipping! It was easy to assemble for 1 person to put it together. It is sturdy and solid. And the color and style are exactly as shown in the picture and description. We are very happy with it!”

6. Berry Ave

If you’re looking for a very compact but stylish bookshelf that can hold many books, the Berry Ave is a top contender. It provides 8 tiers and ample space for books. Nonetheless, assembly is about intermediate as it takes about an hour. Along with that, the only assembly instructions with the purchase is a video. But after it’s put together, you’ll be very satisfied with the purchase.

Users Say: “Was tricky to assemble. I managed to figure it out once I realized a few things that aren’t in the directions, most importantly, that all the small holes need to be on the same side to affix to the backboard. It looks great and seems pretty sturdy. The two things I don’t love, the corners are extremely sharp (I have young kids) and the laminate is already beginning to peel on one of the shelves.”

7. C&AHOME Tree Bookshelf

Coming in either oak red or retro brown, the C&AHOME Tree is another slanted-style bookshelf that saves plenty of space. It’s made of bamboo making it relatively tough. However, the weight limit is only 15 pounds. Therefore, you might not be able to entirely fill it up with books.

Users Say: “Looks fantastic! I had no issues with assembly alone, as I was methodical in organizing the parts according to the instructions and was careful to not fasten every screw too tight until they were all in at each level. Really great for organizing a medium number of books in a tight space!”

8. Sauder Beginnings

Next up, the Sauder Beginnings is a simplistic bookshelf that takes up minimal space. It’s vertical with 5 tiers and dimensions of L: 24.57″ x W: 11.5″ x H: 71.2. Unfortunately, the build quality isn’t up to par compared to the price.

Users Say: “My daughter’s room is a little small so I had limited space for storage super easy to assemble (I did it myself in about an hour) and looks amazing! Also, a plus came with a kit to anchor to the wall.”

9. Homfa

Unlike the previous one, the Homfa provides a high-quality construction that’s both sturdy and able to last a long time. It has 4 tiers where one of them has an attached door. The four legs give it a slight boost in aesthetic value, as well. You can get it in either grey, black, or white. We highly recommend it.

Users Say: “This is really neat looking! A bit frustrating to put together for one person, although I managed with some persistence. It was your basic Ikea type set up, with some parts that felt misaligned and holes that didn’t match up. Once together, it’s a bit wobbly on carpeting. A lot smaller than I anticipated but it looks perfect!”

10. Lavish Home

With an enticing style, the Lavish Home bookshelf is a fantastic option for small spaces. It leans against and offers five tiers that you can use for books or other accessories. You can get it in either oak, cherry, blonde, or walnut.

Although it might be one of the more fashionable options on this list, it does come with a few downsides. For one, the assembly is a bit difficult. It’s also not very sturdy compared to most other bookshelves on this list.

Users Say: “I was worried about this product because a slew of reviews notes how cheap the material was or that it was cut unevenly and therefore was simply unusable but mine arrived with pieces intact and it seems to be stable now that I’ve put it together. It’s unstained and definitely plywood but for the price, I didn’t expect much more and I liked the light wood color. Took about 20 min to put together, the hardest part was stabilizing it enough to screw in the first few screws, having a spare set of hands would help. Definitely great for small spaces and storage for knickknacks.”

11. Furinno 3-Tier

The Furinno 3-Tier is a standard bookshelf at only 12 x 9.4 x 31.5 and 13.6 pounds. It’s sturdy and able to last a long time. We explicitly recommend it to those who only need a little bit of space for books and prefer something plain.

Users Say: “Needed something small to hold my video games and Blu-rays and this was the best thing I could find for a cheap price. It was easy to put together, taking maybe 35 minutes in total. All you need is a hammer and a screwdriver. It is lightweight and is made of that cheap compressed wood stuff. But it works nicely and if you take your time while putting it together, you shouldn’t have any issues with it. The shipping box was banged up a bit but thankfully none of the parts were damaged. Great bookshelf if you’re on a budget.”

12. HSH Solid Wood

There are a plethora of reasons why we believe the HSH Solid Wood is one of the best bookshelves for a small space. Keep in mind, it’s not only us who loves it, but it’s also the highest-rated and customer-reviewed amongst users. It’s a compact horizontal shelf with an enticing vintage style with a tremendous quality of construction!

Users Say: “I was looking for a small, open bookshelf that would fit under my bay window without being too bulky. Love this shelf and it fits perfectly. No issues, the price was within my budget, and it went together easy enough.”

13. OIAHOMY

If you’re looking for something a bit bigger than what you’ve already seen on the list, the OIAHOMY might be the one for you. Designed with robust metal and rustic wood, this 5-tier vintage bookcase certainly enhances the appearance of your room. It’s approximately 65.5 x 29.5 x 12.7 and offers adequate shelf space while not taking up too much floor room.

Users Say:This was relatively easy to assemble. Included all necessary tools, instructions, and items. Used in a guest room and is packed full of books. Great value and good quality. Looks great.

14. Homfa

In case you want only want a vertical bookshelf and need to keep your floor space at a minimum, the Homfa is probably your best bet. It possesses 8 tiers with three fixed shelves and four adjustable shelves. You’ll also appreciate the sleek oak finish.

Users Say:This storage tower is exactly what I needed to hold my DVDs and CDs. It was very easy to put together; all pieces were marked and directions were very clear.

15. Sorfity

Last but not least, the Sorfity is a phenomenal choice if you want a miniature L-shaped bookshelf. It doesn’t take up too much space, has a nice bamboo construction, and offers 4-tiers. You’ll also enjoy its inexpensive price under $50. Unfortunately, many users received the unit with missing parts.

Users Say: “This took ~half an hour to assemble, and came with one extra screw. The only issue I have with this bookcase is the fact that for my personal aesthetics, I need to put books on the right side upside-down, which is rather odd. This case looks pleasant and is holding up well with each shelf crammed with books.”

Our Winner

Keep in mind that our opinion is not the end all be all. Like mentioned earlier, everyone has different needs, requirements, and budgets for their gaming chairs. However, our winner is the HSH Solid Wood due to its compact design, modern appearance, robust build quality, and dependability. We believe it’s the best bang for the buck and highly recommend it!
