6 Best Noise Cancelling Headphones Under $60

Noise-cancelling technology is very unique. Unlike noise-isolating headphones, noise-cancelling headphones do not eradicate outside noise by physical insulation. Within the ear cups, they have a mini microphone that picks up the outside environmental noise. It then triggers a frequency entirely opposite to the outside ambient noise. Thus, canceling out most outside ambient sound.

There are numerous reasons why people benefit from noise-cancelling headphones. Some need peace and quiet for their commute, others for their office, and others simply enjoy their music much more with noise-cancelling headphones. For a good reason, active noise-cancelling headphones became progressively popular in densely populated cities.

Research has shown that those who live in a densely populated city have a higher chance of negative impacts on their mental health. According to a Dutch study, people who lived in a city rather than a rural or suburban area, have a 39% increased risk of a mood disorder and a 21% higher chance of getting an anxiety disorder.

One of the reasons is due to the consistent noise and chatter. Your mind rarely gets the time to shut off. Thus, noise-canceling headphones became quite popular with those in cities or daily subway/train commuters.

Not all of these active noise cancelling headphones were created equally.

Unfortunately, most noise cancelling headphones are rather pricey. Luckily with technological advancements and an innovative market, there are a few affordable noise cancelling headphones under $60 that do a pretty good job. Don’t expect complete silence like much more expensive pairs. However, the headphones in this article below all outperform their inexpensive price.

We tested numerous pairs and decided to pick the very best active noise-cancelling headphones below $60. A few things that each of these headphones has in common are they’re all Bluetooth wireless, all cover the ear, and all have active noise-canceling capabilities. Not to forget, all of the following are highly-rated between us and the average person on the market.

In Short, Here Are The Best Affordable Noise Cancelling Headphones Under $60

  • TaoTronics TT-BH060
  • Anker Soundcore Life
  • Avantree ANC032
  • COWIN E7
  • Mpow H5
  • Boltune

 1. TaoTronics TT-BH060

For good reason, the stylish TaoTronics TT-BH060 is one of the most popular and highest-rated noise-cancelling headphones on this list. Running below $60, they’re incredibly affordable and an excellent bang for the buck. Between the build quality, ANC capabilities, and comfort, you’ll be very satisfied with it.

The sound quality is decent. However, still suitable for the price point. In my opinion, the TaoTronics TT-BH060 selling point is not the sound quality but one of the better choices for an office and/or commute for the price

The noise cancellation works much better than I was expecting for headphones at this price range. It blocks out the majority of lower frequencies while reducing mid to higher frequencies. In other words, they work great for traveling since most engine noises and ambient sounds are at lower frequencies. If you need noise cancelling headphones for your home, it basically removes the computer hum, air conditioner, heater, fan, and other ambient sounds.

Many people claim this pair works incredibly well for office use. Considering it blocks out most of the annoying lower frequencies for better focus, you can still hear somebody if they need to speak with you. However, it still reduces the background chatter by a decent amount. With its built-in mic, you can also make and receive phone calls. Overall, I highly recommend these for people in need of noise-canceling headphones for an office at the lowest price.

Users Say: “These headphones are nice. If you are techy you probably could find things wrong with it, but if you want a pair of decent headphones at a reasonable price these will work. They were easy to pair and the sound is good. I listened to a sample of my music and then watched a video on Netflix. They are just what I was looking for. Hopefully, they will hold up to normal use, we will have to see.”

2. Anker Soundcore Life

Running below $60, the Anker Soundcore Life is currently on a sizable 33% price reduction. Although we’re unsure if this discount is permanent or temporary, we believe it’s either way, a phenomenal value.

Between the lows, mids, and highs; These headphones have a clean sound for the price. However, I personally prefer a bit more mids in the mix. I had to play around a bit with the EQ to get the sound I wanted. Contrary to that belief, most other people who reviewed this pair loved the sound.

They are very comfortable for all head sizes; Not too tight, loose, or heavy. I give the comfort a 9.8 out of 10. You’re easily able to wear them for extended periods of time without fatigue. Considering these headphones are comfy for all head sizes gives them a massive advantage. Something that surprised me was their robust build quality.

Anything you purchase must be built to last. Luckily the Anker Soundcore Space NC has surprisingly excellent build quality in comparison to most headphones in this price range. The design is stylish, straightforward, and modern. You will be satisfied with its overall build quality, durability, and look.

The noise-cancelling abilities are very good for removing lower frequencies. Anker uses active hybrid technology that eliminates 93% of all low frequencies coming from the environment. This works exceptionally well for traveling by plane or train. If you primarily want headphones to remove most of the annoying background noise while having the ability to talk to someone, these headphones are a great choice.

With a solid 20-hour battery life, you’ll be satisfied with its playtime. Even with active noise canceling continuously turned on, they run non-stop for 20-21 hours. It takes a little less than 2 hours to charge these headphones to full capacity. You can either use them as wired or wireless with their Bluetooth 5.0 connection. The on-ear touchpad enables you to control the music you’re listening to. Coming with the purchase is a hard-shell travel case that surely comes in handy.

Users Say: “Had a pair of Bose NC headphones years ago that I really liked, but were hot/heavy to wear. Fast forward to now; bought these for occasional use at work/travel. Overall, really good sound quality (not highest tier, but plenty good for casual Bluetooth listening). The most pleasant aspect to me however is how nice these feel on the ears. They don’t make me feel warm & sweaty like many other over-ear cushions have previously. I’ve seen some reviews mention a somewhat cheap feel to these, but I disagree; they’re not made out of metal, & you shouldn’t expect them to feel like they are. A solid purchase, especially at the coupon price of ~ $50.”

Tech Specs & Details

  • Battery Life: 40 hours
  • Hi-Res Audio
  • Comes in two colors: Silver or Black
  • 40mm dynamic drivers
  • Memory Foam Ear Cups

 3. Avantree ANC032

Next up, the Avantree ANC032 below $60 is one of the cheapest noise cancelling headphones on this list. Fear not, these are an excellent value for the price. The ANC032 has a surprisingly good build and flexibility without any loose ends. In terms of sound quality, it is decent. The bass is pretty good, while the highs need a bit of Eq to brighten it up.

The noise-cancelation is suitable, as well. It’s about the best it gets for this price point. It reduces the lows primarily by roughly 50%. Be sure to check out the reviews below!

Users Say: “I received the Beats Studio wireless headphones a couple of years ago for Christmas and I have to say these are almost a tiebreaker to those. I bought the Avantree headphones for work because of the “joys” of working in an open-space concept and also after getting huge migraines from trying to use noise-cancelling earbuds. I have to say these are very comfortable and I love the flexibility of being wireless/Bluetooth and wired to connect to an older laptop. The price is also very reasonable for having all these features. My only comment is they do cancel most noise, but if people are talking very loudly, you can still hear some of it.”

Tech Specs & Details

  • Flexible
  • Tough build
  • 90-degree rotatable cups
  • Comes with a travel case, 3.5 mm auxiliary, and USB

One of the most popular pair of affordable noise-cancelling headphones on the market, the COWIN E7 is a safe overall choice for the money. It has 30 hours of battery life and a great built-in microphone. They are very well priced, running below $60. When I first used these, they were much better than I was expecting for the low price.

Don’t let the picture fool you; they are much smaller and compact in person. There are two different ways to turn the headphones on; Either Bluetooth mode or active noise-canceling mode.

In terms of how these headphones sound, it is overall pretty good, especially for the low price. One thing I noticed was when the volume was turned to the max without noise-canceling, the audio got a bit boomy. Around 90% volume and down, the sound quality was very good with great bass response.

The noise cancellation works very well at blocking out a great deal of outside noise. However, when the active noise-cancellation is turned on, the music sounds a bit more hollow. It also loses some of the mids and highs. This was quickly fixed with a bit of EQ. Lastly, the comfortability gets a 9 out of 10! The soft top headband works very well, while the earcups feel like clouds. I can definitely see why these are Amazon best selling headphones with incredible ratings across the board.

Users Say: “I loved the Cowin E-7 so much that I ended up getting a second one for my wife! They will come in handy when we go flying soon thanks to the noise cancellation technology great product! Sound is great syncing to your device is a breeze do yourself a favor and pick up a case as well (the case is sold separately) there tailor-made for this model(I’ll do a separate review after my trip) wich combined(they compliment each other) is still a fraction of the price of a major brand’s similar product.”

  • 30-hour battery life
  • Great built-in mic
  • A bit heavy around 1 pound
  • Comfortable
  • Controls; Bluetooth, off, ANC switches

 5. Mpow H5

The Mpow H5 is a steller bang for the buck pair of headphones. They provide steller noise-cancellation at an incredibly affordable price below $50.

These headphones give you the option to either use them wired or wireless with a Bluetooth connection. The range with Bluetooth is roughly 30 feet giving you more than enough leeway of use. They can be folded quite nicely as it also comes with a travel case for easier portability.

These headphones are very comfortable for small to medium-sized heads. However, they may be a bit tight on larger heads. Out of 10, I give the noise-cancellation an 8. Not perfect, but extremely good for the price. They do, however, eliminate the majority of noise on an airplane.

Almost as if the songs you normally listen to have much higher energy than usual, the sound quality is very good for the price as well.. It has a relatively even sound between all frequencies. The bass is not as heavy as many headphones, but it is well balanced. You can either use these headphones with Bluetooth wireless connection or wired. In terms of battery life, it is phenomenal with roughly 30-40 hours.

Users Say: “I’ve had Bose noise-canceling headphones and while I loved them, they were not remotely worth the money. These, however, are well worth the better price. The noise canceling feature works remarkably well, as does the sound quality so far. What I love the most is not just the comfort, but mainly the fact that there’s no guesswork here. It verbally informs you whether the headphones are “ON” “OFF” or “PAIRED”. They’re so easy to use right out of the box and easy to set up/pair with any Bluetooth device.”

Tech Specs & Details

  • Built-in mic
  • Light-weight
  • Comes with a travel case
  • Wired/wireless option
  • Bluetooth
  • 30-hour battery life

6. Boltune

Last but not least, the Boltune Bluetooth 5.0 is a remarkable noise cancelling pair of headphones under $60. Although they’re inexpensive, they have a variety of features. First off, it has two built-in microphones on each side of the headset. During phone calls, the other person can hear me loud and clear without any static or crackle.

Of every single wireless headphone on this list, the Boltune Bluetooth 5.0 has the best built-in mic for the price. In other words, if you need the highest quality phone calls with your headphones at the lowest price, this is the one for you.

The Boltune Bluetooth 5.0 has excellent sound quality. Like every pair on this list, the audio is great for the price. It is very clear without distortion, regardless of how loud the volume goes. The bass response is excellent as well. However, what shocked me the most was its impressive noise-canceling capabilities at a low price.

If I were to review this headphone without knowing the price, I would’ve guessed it was twice the price. The ANC technology, Bluetooth capabilities, and comfort would have led me to believe these headphones were around $100. Overall, they are a fantastic bang for the buck and we highly recommend them.

Users Say: “These are wonderful! I’ve been having issues with finding loud enough headphones that won’t move during my gym sessions until now – I found these and they’re PERFECT! I love my music LOUD and to me personally, the sound quality is louder than my apple headphones and the noise cancellation is so amazing, that it feels like you’re in your own world of music or at your own concert. These are amazingly comfortable too and they DO NOT MOVE, which is perfect for the gym, traveling, cleaning around the house, whatever! Love these!”

The 6 Things To Lookout For When Purchasing A Pair Of Headphones

1. Sound Quality

Especially for music listeners, the overall quality of sound is a massive factor in finding your perfect pair of headphones. There are various factors that impact a pair of headphones’ sound quality.

2. Comfort

The ability for headphones to remain comfortable for extended periods of time without itchiness, annoyance, pressure, or ear pain. Considering many people use headphones for commute, air travel, or work; Comfort is a vital factor.

4. Noise Isolation/ Active Noise Cancelling

Don’t be confused between active noise cancelling and noise isolation headphones. They are both entirely different.

5. Battery Life

Battery life is an overlooked subject when speaking about over-ear headphones. Obviously, the only headphones that have a battery life are those which are wireless.
