For good reason, the Panasonic Arc4 is one of the most popular and highly-reviewed electric shavers on this list. Let alone, it’s also one of the most affordable. There are a plethora of reasons why we love it.

Said he uses it in the shower and cuts great! So of course, I’m thinking pricy but when he sent me the link you couldn’t go wrong with the price! Got it last week and it has been cutting great even on the first shave! I couldn’t be happier with the purchase!”

8. Philips Norelco 6880/81

Like the previous one, the Philips Norelco 6880/81 is surprisingly inexpensive, as well. One of its most prominent features is the integrated skin guard mode that makes the shave less rigorous. Especially if you have sensitive skin, the skin guard feature surely comes in handy.

This electric-powered shaver delivers a 50-minute battery life. Even though it’s not necessarily the most extended battery life on this list, it’s still a reliable amount. Another positive characteristic is the click-on precision trimmer for enhanced detail. Overall, it’s definitely a top contender for the low price. Not only does it have our approval, but it’s also well-received amongst users!

Users Say: “I’ve been using these Norelco Shavers since 1983. It’s now 2020, and it was time for a new upgrade. This 6820 didn’t disappoint. Insanely close, comfortable shave. My face feels like baby skin. What is there not too like? Just 4 stars on the cleaning, that’s all. A little notch to lift up with your nail to open so you can clean. All my previous units made this a little easier/quicker. Having the closest, most comfortable shave is the primary reason for buying a shaver. I believe it’s unmatched. Forget razors with this beauty. One hint…stretch your skin (by just pushing it with a few fingers) while you’re shaving – allows the stubble to stick upright the most. Now we’re talking a smooth face.”

  • Stainless Steel Blades
  • Electric-Powered
  • Skin Gaurd Feature
  • Battery Life: 50 Minutes

9. Panasonic Arc5

Electric Shavers Under $150This is the electric shaver that I decided to keep. I’ve used it for about a year now and it’s never given me any issues. Let me be very clear, I grow a thick beard that most electric shavers stand no chance. However, this one does the job.

You can shave either wet or dry with the Panasonic Arc5. If you have a thick beard of a half-inch or longer, shaving dry can be a bit uncomfortable. Aside from that, you’ll appreciate the pop-up trimmer, 5 robust nanotech blades, flexible head, and linear motor. Furthermore, the shave sensor technology monitors the thickness of the beard and adjusts accordingly.

Along with this shaver running at a reasonable price under $150, you’ll also approve of its current 5% discount. We highly recommend it!

Users Say: “After 23 years ( not a typo ), my Panasonic linear 3D finally quit. I purchased a Braun series 9 for $250 and I ended up returning it simply on the basis that the shave closeness was only on par with my original Panasonic?! The Braun was exceptionally quiet but didn’t impress on the closeness as compared to my 23-year-old Panasonic. After purchasing the new arc 5, I understand and believe that the superior motor speed and 5 blades do matter! It’s awfully impressive to think that I will most likely have to own only 2 razors that are flawless machines for more than half my life. Bravo Panasonic!!”

Details & Specs

  • Dry or Wet Compatible
  • Flexible Head
  • NanoTech Blades
  • Electric-Powered
  • 5-Blade
  • Rechargeable Battery
  • Shave Sensor Technology
  • Pop-Up Trimmer

10. Braun Series 6 6075cc

Electric Shavers Under $150Last but not least, the Braun Series 6 6075cc is an awesome electric shaver under $150. It possesses a foil shaver and a rechargeable battery with 50-minute battery life. This shaver might not be the most popular on this list. However, we still believe it’s worth an honorable mention.

One of our favorite of its qualities is the waterproof construction enabling shower use. Coming with the purchase, you get a travel case and cleaning brush. Another notable characteristic is its been dermatologically tested.

Users Say: “I have been shaving for 60+ years and have always liked foil shavers because they shave closer than rotary shavers but with my skin, they always burned. Last year I went back to a rotary (again) but was never happy with the lack of a close shave. I like to shave “dry” with a pre-shave liquid. I discovered the new Braun Series 6 that was advertised to be good for sensitive skin. I can say that this shaver truly shaves as advertised. I am getting a very close shave with absolutely no burning.”

Why use an electric shaver rather than a traditional razor?

While traditional razors require attention to detail and the use of shaving cream, electric shavers are more convenient. Furthermore, they irritate the skin less than a traditional razor. You’ll also save money down the road with an electric shaver since traditional razors are disposable and require the use use of costly shaving cream.

Does an electric razor shave your face faster than a traditional razor?

Electric razors are faster at shaving your face than traditional razors. Therefore, if you highly value your time, a high-quality electric shaver is your best option. If you want to keep your shave quick and pain-free, shave with an electric shaver once every day or once every other day. The longer you go without shaving makes for a more timely and less-comfortable shave.

Which shave is closer between a manual razor and an electric shaver?

The primary advantage of a traditional manual razor is it delivers a closer shave than an electric shaver. However, the difference isn’t too noticeable.

Is an electric shaver better for your skin?

Since electric shavers deliver a less irritating shave and manual traditional razor often cut the skin, electric shavers are arguably better for the skin. On the flipside, cheaper electric shavers can irritate your skin, as well. Your best bet for the most comfortable shave is to use a high-quality electric razor and shave once a day.
