6 Best Camera Drones Under $700

What’s the best affordable camera drone under $700?

Camera drones are basically drones with a built-in camera. Considering you don’t have to purchase an additional gimbal and GoPro, they’re much more convenient. However, they’re generally more expensive than a generic drone.

Luckily in the innovative age of technology and a competitive marketplace, companies are developing creative ways to keep the price down on camera drones. Not only are there various camera drones under $700, many of them either shoot 1080p full HD, 2.7K, and some even shoot UHD 4K resolution.

Many other factors can make or break a drone, as well. Flight time on a full battery, active tracking features, panorama, reliable flight, and build quality are also essential factors. Nonetheless, after extensive research and reviews, we formulated a list of the six best drones with a built-in camera.

In Short, Here Are The 6 Best Drones With A Built-in HD Camera

  • DJI Mavic Mini
  • DJI Phantom 3

Another beneficial attribute is it’s 1/2.3 CMOS sensor, which stabilizes the overall video. Offering a decent flight time of 16 minutes, you’ll have enough time to get the shots you require. Overall, it’s an amazing drone with a built-in camera for under $700. It’s competitively priced, provides HD definition, and has an abundance of features!

Users Say: “It’s a small learning curve when you first get it. Take your time to properly set up and learn the controls. Having only previously used the Tello drone this is a huge upgrade. I had gotten so much fantastic footage and fly it several times a week at least. I also picked up a third battery which is highly needed. The flight time does suck being only 10-12 minutes. For the price, its amazing tech, and you can’t go wrong getting this drone.”

  • Resolution: 1080p full HD
  • 12 MP pictures
  • 2-Axis gimbal stabilizer
  • Active tracking feature

2. DJI Mavic Mini

For a good reason, the DJI Mavic Mini is one of the highest customer-reviewed camera drones under $700. It’s also one of the very best valued drone’s considering it’s much more affordable than most. You can either get it as a drone separately or as a bundle for a little more. It takes crisp 12MP photos that outperform the price.

However, the most impressive attribute is its high resolution of 2.7 HD quality. If you’re not familiar with 2.7HD, it’s basically 2.7 times higher resolution than standard 1080P.

On a full charge, it provides a surprising 30 minutes of flight time. The main secret for its phenomenal flight time at such an inexpensive price is due to its lightweight of 0.55lbs. Offering a 27MPH max speed, you’re able to capture cinematic aerial shots.

Keep in mind; this drone is extremely compact. But don’t let the small size fool you. It’s very reliable and shoots great video quality. Overall, we explicitly recommend it for anyone looking for the best camera drone at the cheapest price possible!

Users Say: “My husband has been absolutely loving this done. It’s a perfect size for traveling, it is lightweight so the flying rules are more lenient, and DJI has comprehensive info on where you are allowed to fly and will even stop the drone from entering no-fly zones. The no-fly maps are easy to navigate. Great price for the value, great video quality including stabilization. Fly into the wind so the drone is being assisted by the wind when flying back home. Has been useful doing inspections of the roof and gutter at our house, and keeping away birds this Spring. Such a handy toy!”

Users Say: “I purchased this drone after watching my brother get one for Christmas and flying it around for fun. As an aspiring photographer, this drone is a fantastic entry point into aerial photography, with a very high-resolution camera and amazing stabilizer for such a low-priced model. The battery only lasts for ~20 minutes of flight time, but those 20 minutes is a blast. If you do end up purchasing one of these or are seriously considering it, please familiarize yourself with all of the regulations of when and where you can/cannot fly — there are some serious fines out there. Also – if you’re thinking about using one of these for ANY kind of commercial purpose, know that you have to become a certified remote pilot before you can legally sell any products obtained with a drone.”

Tech Specs & Details

  • GPS assisted flight
  • Uses the DJI Go app
  • Resolution: 2.7K HD
  • Flight time on a full battery: 25 minutes

4. HUBSAN Zino

Next up, the HUBSAN Zino is an underrated camera drone well below $700. With its crisp ultra high definition 4K resolution at 30fps, it offers excellent video quality. It’s the cheapest camera drone that shoots 4K resolution on the market. On top of the 4K resolution, the 1/3 Sony sensor, Ambarella A12S Image Chip, and 60 Mbps maximum rate all enhance the overall video quality.

This drone gives you a 23-minute flight time on a full battery. It has a three-axis gimbal and provides a stable flight. You’ll also appreciate its image tracking, panorama, auto return-home, and orbiting capabilities.

If you’re nervous about purchasing a drone because you think you’ll crash it, it has a fail-safe for low battery and losing control. But just because it has Failsafe features doesn’t mean it’s uncrashable. Make sure to learn in an open field slowly and get used to it!

Users Say: “I was looking to get a drone and after too much time on YouTube, I found this one. I noticed that Hubsan was providing updates on Firmware on a frequent basis. For me, that tells me they are dedicated to listening to the users. The Zino for the price point has an amazing 4k video quality and flying is just as easy. For the money, you can’t go wrong. If you are looking for something above the toy level, this is it. The Hubsan YouTube has set up videos that help. I’d like to get a travel case. I fly it 4-5 times a week at my house. After my flights, I pop the chip into the reader connected to my Samsung 4k tv and watch the videos. I strongly recommend this but I haven’t ever had a drone before, yet I don’t feel like I need a more expensive one.”

  • Flight time on a full battery: 23 minutes
  • Panorama Shooting

5. DJI Mavic Air

Amazingly, the DJI Mavic Air had a massive price cut of 24% from its original price. Although we’re unsure if this discount is permanent or temporary, we believe it’s either way, the very best drone under $700. There are a plethora of reasons why we love it. For one, the camera shoots stunning videos and pictures. Possibly the highest quality on the list, it shoots crisp 4K/30fps resolution at 100mbps.

Not only does it capture vivid UHD videos and pictures, but the panoramas are also remarkable. It combines 25 photos in to construct an impressive 32 MP sphere panorama. On top of that, it’s one of the most compact and portable 3-axis gimbal camera drones on the market.

Not including the micro SD card, the internal storage offers 8GB. You’ll also appreciate the Active Tracker, foldable drone, burst shot capabilities, and slow-motion videos with 1080/120fps. Overall, we believe the DJI Mavic Air is the very best drone with a built-in camera under $700. We highly recommend it!

Users Say: “I did a lot of research before buying the Mavic Air and I was able to get it for a great deal just under $800 at the time. I have used his drone so many different times I can’t remember, wish it came with a microSD card to store photos and videos but that’s OK it’s basically a Camera with rotors and the remote controller so you can expect everything to come with it. After buying this drone I am really impressed with DJI as a company. The companion app is great and I love some of the free software that is included, the controls for this drone make it one of the best out there for beginner drone flyers. I definitely recommend practicing a lot before you do anything crazy because it’s really easy to crash the drone and there goes all the money you spent and if you do crash it. Be respectful of where you fly because each of us represents drones when we get out in the field. Have fun, it really is a blast to see your neighborhood and places you’ve always seen from the ground instead of from the air.”

  • Active Tracking
  • Resolution: 4K/30fps

You might appreciate the USB-C charging, as well. With its high-quality 2.7K full HD resolution, you’ll be delighted with the picture quality.

There are a few downsides to this drone. Many users had a bad experience with their customer service on all levels. There are also a few instances of this drone malfunctioning. Aside from that, it’s a decent video drone with a built-in camera. Be sure to check out the reviews below!

Users Say: “I have been flying drones for several years beginning with the Phantom 3 Professional and the Mavic Platinum. I took a chance and decided to purchase a refurbished Anafi and I am very pleased with it – except for one thing and that the 16 GB holder. With a single touch it came off and it took me a good 20 minutes to get it back on. The more I looked at it the more I realized that Parrot did not intend for this to be removed but for the photo/video to be downloaded. This is a big downer and will influence whether I purchase the Anafi Thermo. The video and photography is much better than the Mavic Platinum. If you are familiar with flying these drones then why pay for the bells and whistles? Would I do it again – as I said, the issue is the 16GB cardholder. The problem is serious enough that I plan on sending it back. However, if I can get another with this problem corrected I will be quite happy with the drone.”

Tech Specs & Details

  • Flight time on a full battery: 25 minutes
  • USB Type C charger
  • Foldable
  • Fast charging battery
  • f/2.4 wide angle ASPH lens
