1. Samsung Galaxy Buds+ Plus

First up, the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ Plus is one of the newer true wireless earbuds running below $200. However, it didn’t make our top 9 list just because it’s newer. There are many reasons why we love them. For one, these earbuds produce exceptional sound quality.

Each bud has a woofer and tweeter from the famous audio company AKG. The tweeter gives off sparkly highs accentuating every instrument clearly. You will also enjoy its deep and punchy low-end, as well. Compared to other earbuds in this price range, I give it a 9 out of 10 for sound quality.

Coming with three adjustable ear tip or wing sizes, you can pick the one that fits your ear best. But for most, the earbuds fit comfortably right out of the box. Like their previous model, you certainly won’t have any issues with their comfort. You’ll basically forget they’re even in. I give them a solid 9.6 out of 10 for comfort.

In terms of build, they are light but sturdy. These earbuds are easily able to last a long time. Runners and those who exercise will also appreciate its IPX2 sweat-resistant capabilities.

These earbuds don’t have active noise cancellation capabilities. However, they are very good at blocking out outside noise by natural isolation. Once put in, a significant amount of ambient noise is significantly reduced. Something you may appreciate is its “ambient mode” feature.

Once activated, it allows outside sounds into your ears in case you want to be aware of your surroundings. Overall, I give it a 9 out of 10 for passive noise isolation. One of the areas where the Galaxy Plus shines over its original version is its battery life. With an 11-hour battery life, you’re able to use them all day long. The case adds an additional 11 hours of battery life, as well. You will also enjoy how quickly they charge since only 3 minutes of charging gives you an hour of playtime.

One of the very best attributes these earbuds offer is their superb call quality. Each earbud has two external microphones and one internal mic. While on the phone, the earbuds filter out outside environmental noises automatically. Even in hectic places, you will be more than pleased with its precise and reliable phone call quality.

The charging case coming with the purchase is very convenient and compact, as well. After opening the case, the earbuds automatically pair with the device they were originally paired to. You’ll also appreciate its ability to pair with two devices at once. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Buds+ Plus is a fantastic pair of true wireless earbuds for under $200!

  • Built-in microphone for fantastic call quality

2. Jabra Elite Active 65t

The Jabra Elite Active 65t is one of the more popular pairs of true wireless earbuds below $200. First things first, these earbuds have pretty good sound quality. If I had to be honest, it’s nothing too special compared to its price as it may slightly underperform compared to the others on this list. It comes with a companion app that gives you the ability to EQ the sound. Overall, the sound quality isn’t bad, but nothing special. I was expecting more for the price. I give it a 6.5 out of 10.

In terms of comfort, they are acceptable. You’ll enjoy the secure fit for activities and exercise. However, you may need to take the earbuds out every 3-4 hours to take a break. The build quality of these earbuds is decent. Again, not the best, but good enough for the most part. Parts seem a bit too plasticky for their price range. However, many people consistently abused them and put them through vigorous conditions, and they still work like new. You’ll be relatively satisfied with its overall durability.

You’ll also appreciate its IP56 rating for resistance against sweat and dust. The Jabra Elite Active 65t is primarily designed for exercising.

Like most on this list, these earbuds don’t provide active noise cancelling technology. They do, however, provide decent passive noise isolation, which reduces outside noise by a fair amount. I give it a 5.5 out of 10 for its noise isolation. On a full charge, these earbuds provide 5 hours of continuous playtime. Its wireless charging case can add an additional 10 hours.

Overall, the Jabra Elite Active 65t is a decent pair of true wireless earbuds below $200. It may not be the best on this list, but it certainly makes the top 9 in the price range.

Tech Specs & Details

  • Battery life: 5 hours
  • wireless charging case adds 10 hours of battery life
  • 2-year warranty
  • Built-in microphone for phone calls
  • IP56 rating for sweat-resitance
  • Voice command capabilities for Siri, Google Assistant, or Alexa

3. Apple AirPods

Of all the earbuds I’ve tested, there’s a reason why I decided to keep these. Come to think of it; there are numerous reasons why I’m keeping the Apple AirPods. I’m not the only one who’s more than satisfied with these earbuds. They’re one of the most popular and the absolute highest rated on the entire market.

Starting with the sound quality, to my ears, it’s perfect. The Apple AirPods provide the very best sound quality true wireless earbuds can offer. All of the frequencies are perfectly balanced while maintaining a fair amount of separation. All the instruments are easily heard, leaving nothing out. The bass response is full and punchy, the mids are vibrant, and the highs are just right. Even at max volumes, you won’t hear any distortion or harsh frequencies. Compared to every other true wireless pair of earbuds, I give it a 10 out of 10 for sound quality.

The Apple AirPods are incredibly comfortable. They feel like nothing is on once put in. Even though their incredibly light on the ears, they stay securely in them. I’ve gone on many runs with them, and they’ve never yet gotten close to falling out.

You will be very satisfied with their overall comfort and ability to stay in your ears. In terms of build quality, both the case and earbuds are robust and sturdy. The earbuds have not only survived multiple times hitting the ground, but they’ve also pulled through an accidental washer and dryer without a scratch. However, the manufacturer claims there not water-resistant. Contrary to that belief, I sweat with them at the gym all the time and have had no issues.

Where these earbuds significantly lack is their lack of noise isolation. Once put on, outside noise does not reduce naturally at all. They also don’t offer active noise cancelling, either. On a full charge, these earbuds give you 5 hours of continuous use. The wireless charging case adds an additional 24 hours.

A feature that I thoroughly enjoy is its auto-on/off. The moment you put the earbuds in your ear, they automatically turn on. If you take one-off, they both turn off. I find this feature is incredibly convenient. The wireless charging case comes in handy, as well. With its built-in mic, phone calls are incredibly clear without any issues. Overall, the Apple AirPods is the most reliable choice of true wireless earbuds under $200. It’s a fantastic bang for the buck, and I highly recommend it.

Tech Specs & Details

  • Auto-off once took off the ear
  • Auto-on once put on the ear
  • Convenient wireless charging case
  • Built-in microphone for clear phone calls
  • Double-tap earbud for Siri

4. Samsung Galaxy Buds

Next up, the Samsung Galaxy Buds is an excellent bang for the buck pair of true wireless earbuds well below $200. Here is yet another pair of incredibly popular earbuds with excellent ratings. You can either get this pair with or without the charging case.

These earbuds produce exceptional sound quality that won’t leave you disappointed. They have a great bass response and decent highs, as well. I give it an 8.8 out of 10 for sound quality. Like the Galaxy Buds+ Plus, you get a few ear tip sizes to fit your ear how you want. These earbuds are very comfortable and fit your ear snug. Considering the nearly identical build as the Galaxy Plus, they are just as comfortable with a 9.6 out of 10.

With a sturdy but lightweight build, you will be happy with the overall design. These earbuds and the Galaxy Plus have the same build quality. The material made is high-quality and will leave you satisfied. Not to forget, they offer IPX2 sweat-resistant capabilities, as well.

These earbuds don’t offer active noise cancelling. However, they do provide acceptable passive noise isolation. Strangely, I found their noise isolation abilities didn’t block out as much noise as its earlier version by a slight margin. Overall, I give it an 8.8 out of 10 for blocking out outside noise naturally. These earbuds offer “Ambient Mode,” as well.

These earbuds offer a decent battery life of 6 hours on a full charge. If you get the version with the charging case, the case adds an additional 7 hours. The Samsung Galaxy Buds provide decent call quality. It’s not as good as the Plus; however, it’s not bad either.

Each earbud has two built-in microphones to pick up your voice. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Buds is an excellent pair of true wireless earbuds running below $200. What I like about them is the option to buy them with or without the wireless charging case.

With its Qualcomm chip supported by aptx, these earbuds outperform their price with their sound quality. All the frequencies are well balanced and clean. They produce a tad extra bass without sacrificing the other frequencies. Although the sound quality of these earbuds dramatically outperforms their price, they still get a solid 8.6 of 10 compared to the more expensive brands on this list.

Coming with three ear tips of different sizes, you’re able to pick the most comfortable solution for your ears. These earbuds are extremely comfortable and fit securely, as well. I give it a solid 9.8 for comfort.

Another thing these earbuds outperform their price in is build quality. The soft rubber material on both the case and earbuds is great. Both earbuds feel sturdy and able to last a long time. However, the build quality of the charging case is not top-notch. Compared to the more expensive earbuds on this list, I still give it a solid 8.5 out of 10 for the build. You will still be very satisfied. You will also enjoy its IPX5 water-resistant capabilities, as well.

These earbuds do not provide active noise cancelling. However, they do provide pretty good passive noise isolation. Once put on, it reduces outside noise passively by 15-20dB. With the purchase, you get a charging case, USB cord, and 3 different-sized ear tip pairs. They have a built-in microphone for phone calls. However, the phone call quality is not as good as the others on this list. Overall, the TRANYA B530 is a superb bang for the buck pair of true wireless earbuds. Although they’re running well under $200, they still effortlessly made our list of the top 9.

However, where the audio really shines is its audio quality for phone calls. They are primarily customized for anyone in need of wireless earbuds for phone calls.

These earbuds are reasonably comfortable and fit securely in your ears. You may need to take a break every 6 hours. For the price, I was expecting better build quality. It’s not bad by any means. However, not as good as its price range. The earbuds were a little bulkier than I was expecting, as well. I give it an 8 out of 10 for the build.

The Jabra Evolve 65T True does not have active noise cancelling technology. But they do provide very good passive noise isolation. Once put on, a decent amount of outside noise is eliminated. I give it a 7.5 out of 10. On a full charge, these earbuds give you 5 hours of continuous use. The added charging case adds an additional 15 hours.

Although these are one of the pricier earbuds on this list, the sound quality will live up to its price range. It has a deep bass response, as well. Keep in mind; it’s much more challenging to create top-notch sound quality with true wireless earbuds than it is with wired earbuds or over-ear headphones. Overall, I give it a solid 9.3 out of 10 for sound.

These are some of the most comfortable earbuds on this list. Whether you’re exercising or not, they are easily worn for extended periods without any sign of ear fatigue. Most people even forget they’re on. You will be very satisfied with their comfort.

Both the build quality and form factor are outstanding. They are robust and able to last an extremely long time. You will also appreciate its IPX4 waterproof enabling it to withstand extreme sweat during exercise or splashes. However, the case doesn’t live up to the robust build of the earbuds.

The 6 Things To Look Out For When Purchasing Earbuds

1. Sound Quality

Especially for music listeners, the overall quality of sound is a massive factor in finding your perfect pair of earbuds. There are various factors that impact a pair of earbuds’ sound quality.

2. Comfort

The ability for earbuds to remain comfortable for extended periods of time without itchiness, annoyance, pressure, or ear pain. Considering many people use earbuds for commute, air travel, or work; Comfort is a vital factor.

3. Build Quality

What good are your amazingly sounding earbuds if they break in a few months? The overall durability and longevity are crucial for any investment you make. Especially for those who need earbuds for commute, it’s important they’re able to withstand vigorous traveling conditions consistently.

4. Noise Isolation/Active Noise Cancelling

Don’t be confused between active noise cancelling and noise isolation earbuds. They are both entirely different. Noise-cancelling technology is very unique. Unlike noise-isolating earbuds, noise-cancelling earbuds do not eradicate outside noise by physical insulation. Within the ear cups, they have a mini microphone that picks up the outside environmental noise. It then triggers a frequency entirely opposite to the outside ambient noise. Thus, canceling out most outside ambient sound.

5. Battery Life

Battery life is an overlooked subject when speaking about over-ear earbuds. Obviously, the only earbuds that have a battery life are those which are wireless. Many earbuds on the market do not have wireless capabilities. But for those who do, a more extended battery life becomes a convenient factor.

6. Added Features

A few examples of added features earbuds offer can be Bluetooth wireless capabilities or a built-in microphone for phone calls.
